“Gucci Bucket Hat” by Future and Pap Chanel ft. Heroin Young has been one of the first chart singles of the year. Honestly, this song is incredible.
“Gucci Bucket Hat” is very typical for Future. He uses a bass leading melody with whistle influences that run through the song. The tempo is fast and the song is energetic. The melody stays consistent throughout the song and acts as a backing for the fast rapping verses of Future, Pap Chanel, and Heroin Young.
Future’s verse describes the ways that people have to get rich enough to get a Gucci bucket hat. He raps, “Gettin’ rich was my virtue” and I’m gettin’ legal money, still ridin’ dirty with F&N’s”.
Future describes the feeling of focusing your life on nothing but money and doing what you have to to get it; even if that means “ridin’ dirty”.
Pap Chanel’s verse shares the problems that come with the jealousy of money. She raps, “These - don’t want no beef, if they eat salad, it’s a Caesar / These -- problems in my eyes, I pick ‘em with some tweezers”. Pap discusses how even when people try to create problems, she just brushes them off and moves on.
Heroin Young’s verse discusses the ways that all of his money allows him to show off. He claims, “Look like dapper dan, just a dope boy from the 80’s”. He shows how with all of his money he buys lavish accessories like Gucci bucket hats to show off his style.
The chorus is quite repetitive in the way that it repeats the same lyrics, “Gucci bucket hat” and “serving fentanyl, I ain’t going back”. It brings awareness to the ways that fame and wealth can lead to the stressors influencing drug addiction.
“Gucci Bucket Hat” is incredibly informative. It shows many realms of wealth and the things associated with it. Although relatively simple, the song provides a clean melody that provides a stable platform for the artists. Everyone needs to listen to this song at least once. It’s astonishing.
