Song Review: "We're Good" by Dua Lipa

Tis the season for deluxe albums! Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia came out in February of 2020, just a few weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic, and Lipa began to receive praise for her mastery of pop classics such as “Don’t Start Now,” and “Break My Heart,” two singles that went into the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100. But unlike other artists, Lipa wasn’t ready to tuck away the Future Nostalgia era in just a year, so she joined artists such as Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift in releasing deluxe versions of their albums, something we have not seen from artists in a bit since the streaming era due to the fast paced movement of how songs come and go.

“We’re Good” is the first single from Future Nostalgia: The Moonlight Edition. Released at the same time as the rest of the tracks. This album fits the overall theme that we saw from Lipa’s 2020 releases and enhances it even more. This seems to add some layers to past tracks we heard, such as an R&B element that gives a new and refreshing sound to Lipa, while coinciding with what is popular right now. It is your traditional pop song, talking about a relationship that has its uniqueness and some problems. Overall, I don’t think it's going to have the same impact as past Lipa success songs, but it will be one of the “underdogs” that die-hard fans come back to and associate with an exciting release night memory.
