Music trio Almost Monday has recently released a new music video for their song “live forever;” a music video that is honestly more fun than the song itself. This isn’t to say the song is bad by any means, but I thought the video was more enjoyable.
I hate to sound like a broken record in my reviews lately, but I can’t help myself; the characteristics in this song sound extremely familiar to other songs I’ve heard. I’m honestly debating over whether that’s a catchphrase of mine at this point, but it’s worse in this song.
The almost distorted-sounding instrumentation with high-pitched vocals combined with an even higher pitched backing vocals in the chorus? It definitely sounds like I’ve heard it in other pop songs before. Even it’s message of cherishing each moment of your life is not very nuanced.
Maybe I’m just being too snobby about music nowadays, but I will say something positive; the music video is very entertaining; it’s fast paced and energetic, almost like a Beastie Boys music video.
Overall, I feel as though I’m being harsh on this song, so I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt and say it is at least a fun song to listen to and I recommend it to people who listen to pop music, but not really to anyone else outside of that group.
