Many artists are doing everything they can in order to provide a joyful experience for everyone stuck in their homes, and many famous artists came together to perform various Disney hits. Let's talk about exactly what we saw last night.
The night opened with a magical opener from Hayley Erbert, and Derek and Julianne Hough, containing of singing and dancing to get families excited to see the show, and create a distraction from the struggles through song.
Another notable performance came early in the night with a surprise performance from the one and only, Beyoncé. Giving a beautiful performance of "When You Wish Upon A Star," fans were excited to see their favorite artist pop out of social media quarantine to deliver a performance. It showed how everyone wants to do as much as they can to brighten up the dark days.
The female dominance of the night was not stopping. Amber Riley, known for her role of Mercedes in Glee, came out to deliver a mesmerizing performance of "Let It Go," the hit from Frozen, which was one of the most talked about performances of the night as you cannot help singing this song when it comes on, and singing it with your family makes that moment special as well.
Another Glee member came out to sing for the viewers a song from the Jungle Book. Darren Criss performed "I Wan'na Be Like You," containing clips of multiple Criss' singing the different parts of the song. Through editing, costumes, and a soulful voice, Criss made this one of the most interesting performances of the night.
Now for, in my opinion, the performance of the night. Ariana Grande followed in Criss' footsteps to create a montage of multiple Grande's to recreate the easily recognizable scene from Hercules, performing "I Won't Say I'm In Love," a song that Grande claims to be one of her favorite Disney songs of all time. And through her passion of singing and creating a fun virtual experience, this was a performance worth watching over and over again. Check it out here:
More performances got the crowd grooving such as "Gaston" performed by Josh Gad, Luke Evans, and Alan Menken, "I'll Make a Man Out of You" performed by Donny Osmond, and ""Under The Sea" (from The Little Mermaid,) performed by Jordan Fisher.
More female performers such as Christina Aguilera and Tori Kelly blew audiences away with renditions of "Can You Feel The Love Tonight?" and "Colors of the Wind" - stripping things down to remember the true meaning of music and to let their voices shine, both ladies did a fantastic job of that.
And for the big finale... many early 2000's babies were excited to see the reunion of all High School Musical stars, even Zac Efron's.... brief introduction, to perform "We're All In This Together," which also featured members of Descendants, Zombies, High School Musical The Musical: The Series, and even.. Charli D'Amelio from Tik Tok
And for the encore, to salute the healthcare and essential workers, Demi Lovato and Michael Bublé teamed up for a performance of "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes," containing clips of multiple families sending their gratitude and Thank You's - to remind why we come together, as a Thank You and to lift sprits.
