BROCKPORT, NY-- The Brockport Golden Eagles women's lacrosse team remains winless after a 12-11 loss to the Oswego State Lakers. In 2024, Brockport was 2-0 against Oswego, including an 11-10 overtime victory in the first round of the SUNYAC playoffs. The Lakers avenged last season's struggles in a back and forth battle.
Two late green cards against Brockport attackers Tristan Davis and Angelina Soeffing just 13 seconds apart with less then 2:30 remaining opened the door for Oswego to take a late lead. Oswego attacker Mackenzie Winn scored the eventual game winner during the man-up opportunity with just 1:37 remaining. Despite being outscored 4-3 in the fourth, Oswego did just enough to hold on.
"Just bad discipline on our way... you never put anything in the officials hands," Brockport head coach Bryana Glasser said.

Oswego outscored Brockport 7-4 in the second half to claw back form a two goal deficit at the half. Oswego midfielder Alexis Hill scored two of her three goals in the fourth quarter to help seal the win.
Turnovers were a massive issue for Brockport with 22 on the day, opposed to their season average of 16 per game heading into this matchup.
The third quarter was the start of the Golden Eagles troubles. A 4-0 run powered by Oswego midfielder Julia Quirk, who scored two of her four goals in the third, put the Lakers in the driver seat heading into the fourth quarter.
"Just in general we need to be more consistent all over the place... that's just something we have to better at," Glasser said.
Brockport dictated the pace of play in the first half. Brockport found success of draw controls thanks to Senior midfielder Sarah Kilburn. Kilburn ended the game with a hat-trick and tied for the team lead in goals on the day with sophomore attacker Hailey Lewkovich. Senior midfielder Alayna Foos led all scorers with five points, including four assists.

Entering the day, Foos led the team with 11 goals and took on a different role as a distributor against the Lakers.
"I think we found a little more of our flow," Foos said. "We've been struggling with it, my role definitely did change, it wasn't really on purpose but I was kind of getting shut down on the ally drive so I was just trying to move the ball a little more and make things happen."
Senior midfielder Paige Thowe opened up the goal scoring in the first quarter with an assist from Lewkovich. Thowe was left alone on the backside of the play, drove the lane when Lewkovich found her wide open for an easy goal. That goal was Thowe's first of the season. She finished with two on the day, both coming in the first half.
"It felt great, I've been kind of in a drought to start this season playing a lot of good competition," Thowe said. "Shots weren't falling but today just being aggressive and taking chances and finishing the ball.

The first quarter ended square at three.
Brockport took control in the second with four goals from four differrent players to take a two goal lead into the break. The second quarter goal scorers for Brockport were Kilburn, Thowe, Lewkovich and Foos.
Brockport's season continues on Wednesday Mar. 19 as they travel to Clinton New York to take on Hamilton College in hopes of securing their first win of the season. First draw is still TBD.
