Lady Gaga dropper her new single, "Abracadabra," on Feb. 3rd, 2025, which will be added in her upcoming album, "Mayhem."
Before Lady Gaga got her own record deal, she played music in clubs and wrote songs for various artist, such as, Fergie, Britney Spears and New Kids on the block. She signed a record deal to Streamline Records, releasing her first debut studio album, "The Fame," in 2008. The album's first single has reached number two on the Billboard 200 Chart in January 2010, along with "Poker Face," reaching the top. Ever since, numerous albums have reached number one, which includes her 2011 album "Born This Way," her 2013 album "ARTPOP" and her 2020 album "Chromatica" (2020). Not only has she released her own albums, but she has also made collaborative projects with other artists. She released "Cheek to Cheek" with Tony Bennett in 2014 and she starred in "A Star is Born" with Bradley Cooper in 2018. Lady Gaga has won various awards, including being named Billboard's 2015 Woman of the Year for Women in Music.
Bringing back an old-but-new era for pop culture, the music video for "Abracadabra" is quite iconic. The single made its debut during a commercial break at the 2025 Grammys. From the choreography to the unique outfits, everything from this video screams 2010. Lady Gaga does what she wants when it comes to her music. She expresses her art in her own way and she's not afraid to show it off. One thing I loved about the music video is when the dancers were chanting, and she screamed at the top of her lungs, almost as if she went insane. What I also love about it is how different it is from all the other music that have been released. "Abracadabra" is a new breath of fresh air. Fans have even called the song the new "Bad Romance" after it was premiered.
Musically, her vocals are powerful throughout the entire song from start to finish. Synthetic and electronic beats pulsate in the background, which blends in well with her voice. When she sings "abracadabra," it melts within the synthetic beat. Lady Gaga has revealed that the song is about the challenges in life, hence the white and red outfit to represent two sides, along with the following lyrics, "dance or die." It even follows with "the lady in red," who represents a person's internal monologue. Gaga has put maximum effort while creating this single to get her message through to the world.
Lady Gaga has truly outdone herself. She is spoiling her fans with this addictive song and her upcoming album. She is bringing back an old era, and I can't wait for what she has in store for this year.
