ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Rochester Red Wings were defeated by the Lehigh Valley IronPigs by a score of 9-2 on Friday night. Lehigh Valley pressured the Rochester defense, leading to two errors and five unearned runs.

"Were working on all the mistakes we've made," Red Wings manager Matt LeCroy said. "We just have to continue to coach and guide these young guys along."
The Red Wings have failed to score more than two runs in each of their last three games, going winless in that stretch.
"We are just a bit late on fastballs," LeCroy said. "We're a little off, we're not hitting a lot of stuff on the barrel. We are not driving the baseball."
Red Wings starter Andrew Alverez tallied a stat line of five innings pitched, five hits, six runs, three earned runs, zero walks, and six strikeouts.

"He is the leader of the staff, and we need him to be able to go deep in games," LeCroy said. "I want to be able to get him to where he can go six or seven innings in his next start."
The IronPigs scored first thanks to a busy first inning. Third baseman Otto Kemp led off with a double in the gap, in which he then scored on a single from Cal Stevenson. The IronPigs plated across another two runs and ended the top of the first leading Rochester 3-0.
The Red Wings would finally threaten to score when they had runners at the corners with two away in the bottom of the third. IronPigs pitcher Seth Johnson escaped the jam by striking out Brady House and keeping Rochester scoreless after three.
Rochester would finally get on the board by scoring two runs on a single by Trey Lipscomb. That was Lipscomb's third and fourth RBIs of the season. Rochester now trailed Lehigh Valley by only one by a score of 3-2.
Lehigh Valley would strike back the following inning with a solo home run by Otto Kemp. It was Kemp's second homer of the season, and the IronPigs extended their lead over Rochester to 4-2.
The IronPigs would once again tally more runs, but this time on the Red Wings' bullpen. A costly error by Rochester's shortstop Nasim Nuñez would set Lehigh Valley up with runners at second and third with no outs. A sac fly by Oscar Mercado, and a double by Rafael Lantigua would plate both those runners. With a 6-2 lead, Lehigh Valley would drive two more in thanks to a two-run single by Matt Kroon. Kroon's hit extended the IronPigs' lead to 8-2 over Rochester.
Later in the eighth inning, Lehigh Valley would score once again via an Oscar Mercado home run. It was Mercado's first homer of the year and his third RBI of the game. This would extend the IronPigs' commanding lead to 9-2 over the Red Wings.
Joel Kuhnel closed the game down earning Lehigh Valley their fifth win on the season. They now lead the IL East with a record of 5-2. The Red Wings sit in ninth place out of 10 teams in the IL East with a record of 2-4.
The Red Wings are back at it tomorrow as they face Lehigh Valley once again at 1:05 p.m. The starters for tomorrow's contest will be Mick Abel (7.20) (0-1) for the IronPigs. For Rochester, Andry Lara (4.50) (0-0) will be on the hill.
