The Irondequoit Eagles defeated Greece Athena in a blowout win, 76-59 in the Class A1 championship game with the help of Quinn Vankerkhove's 23-points and the tournament's MVP Irondequoit's, Ryan Heath
The high school basketball team put on a clinic against their opponents, Greece Athena, in a blowout victory on Saturday night’s Championship game. The Eagle's offense was firing on all cylinders, as they jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back.
The Eagle's defense was equally impressive, suffocating Greece Athena's offense and limiting them throughout the game. Eagle’s big man(Center), Isaiah Ballard controlled the paint and denied Greece Athens players any easy shots.
The game quickly became a one-sided affair, as The Eagle’s built an insurmountable lead in the second half. Their bench players were given plenty of playing time, and they took advantage of the opportunity to show off their skills as well. The Eagle's bench kept up the same level of intensity and kept the lead growing.
By the end of the game, The Eagles blown out the Greece Athena and ended their season(18-5) by a score of 76-59.
The Irondequoit Eagles will be back on Wednesday night in the Class A final to face off against The Pittsford Sutherland Knights.
