Greece Storm ride to 6-3 win against Fairport

Wednesday night it was the Greece Storm and Fairport Raiders fighting for positioning in Class A. With Greece sitting towards the middle of the standings looked to make a statement and accomplished just that.

It started early for Greece at only 20 seconds from puck drop. It was Jayden Gargana stuffing in a puck bounced off the boards to put the Storm up early. They would control the pace of play throughout the 1st and at the 13:24 mark Adelana Alvarez upped the lead. A goal straight from the faceoff left the game at 2-0 as Greece would hold their lead til the 2nd.

The first half of the 2nd period was a quiet one before star player Aiden Candaleria finally broke through. He did so in quick succession striking at the 11:08 mark before quickly slipping one past again just 12 seconds later. At 9:24 Fairport would stop the bleeding with a goal from Freshman Caleb Kaiser. Greece would respond in turn with 2 more goals from Gargana and Spencer Griffin keeping things out of hand.

Despite a late 2nd period goal from Mitchell Zanon and a late 3rd tally from Edgar Cardona. Greece would work to keep Fairport at bay as they were content holding the lead and let goalie Joe Willis 32 saves en route to a solid win.

The Greece Storm now sit at a 9-9 record firmly at the sixth seed in Class A. Their next game will be against Canandaigua Academy this Friday. For Fairport they fall to 3-9-6 on the season and travel next all the way to the HarborCenter in Buffalo to take on Orchard Park this Saturday.
