Greece Athena Baseball's season comes to an end after 6-4 loss to HFL.

The Greece Athena Trojans faced off against the Honeoye-Falls Lima Cougars in the NYS Regional Qualifier on Tuesday night. The Trojans were not able to stop the hot cougar bats as they were defeated 6-4.


The Trojans struck first in the top of the third inning after a sacrifice fly by second basemen Sammy Saucke drove in third basemen Sammy Butera to put them up 1-0.

In the top of the fourth inning, first basemen Caleb Mitchell singled to left field and drove in catcher Riley Catena to make it a 2-0 game.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Cougars first basemen Nolan Smith hit an RBI double to left field to cut the deficit to 2-1. Later in the inning, third basemen Landon Hammond hit a three-run triple to left field to give the Cougars a 4-2 lead.


In the top of the fifth inning, Sammy Saucke hit an RBI double to left field to make it a 4-3 game. Later in the inning, Riley Catena singled and drove in Saucke to tie the game at four apiece.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Landon Hammond hit an RBI single to give the Cougars a 5-4 lead. Later in the inning, designated hitter Nate Weber drove in a run on a sacrifice fly to make it 6-4. This was the final score of the game.


The Trojans finished the season with an 18-6 record, and they won the Section V Class A1 Championship.
