Golden Eagles end Regular Season with 38-0 thrashing of Alfred on Senior Day

BROCKPORT, NY - The Brockport Golden Eagles defeated the Alfred Saxons 38-0 Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale. Before the game, a ceremony was held in honor of the team's seniors. If this does prove to be their last home game, they went out with a bang. Brockport got things started early in the first quarter with a 1 yard touchdown run by Rashad Law to take a 7-0 lead. Alfred tried to respond, but starting quarterback Zuke Smith struggled. He was eventually knocked out of the game with an upper-body injury, leading to Blake Van Woert coming in. Brockport would tack on a Nate Wigent field goal in the second quarter to make it 10-0 at the half.

The Golden Eagles completely took control of the game in the third quarter. Following an interception by Alaan Montgomery, Jala Coad would finish the job with a 1 yard TD. Coad would score again on the next drive to make it 24-0, a drive that began with a Neil Levantini fumble recovery. Lawrence Jenkins would finish the third quarter tsunami with a pick 6 to put Brockport up 38-0, a score that would hold to the end of the game. Smith and Van Woert would combine to throw four interceptions on the day. Brockport quarterback Jack Cheshire threw for 58 yards on 9 completions, and Jala Coad added 120 more yards onto a spectacular regular season, totaling 1,198 rushing yards. Brockport finishes the season with a record of 7-3, placing second in the Empire 8 after 10-0 Cortland. They have a chance to host an ECAC Bowl Game after today's victory. Their fate will be decided in the selection show at noon on Monday.
