BROCKPORT, NY - The Brockport Golden Eagles dominated the Morrisville Mustangs 8-0 behind seven goals from seniors. Fittingly, it was Senior Day this Sunday afternoon. The Class of 2025 was honored with a pregame ceremony.

“The seniors are the most special group I’ve probably ever coached in my 15 years of coaching,” Brockport coach Krista Archambeau said. “They all give everything every single day at practice, and they couldn’t deserve it more.”

Brockport was able to maintain possession of the ball and keep it on the Mustangs’ side of the field for the vast majority of the first period. They outshot Morrisville 17-0 with 11 of those shots being on goal.

Senior Paige Thowe was able to get her first goal of the season with a little over one minute left in the first period. Samantha Choate and Allison Greene picked up their first and fourth assists of the year respectively.

The Golden Eagles struck again early in the second period with senior Kelsey Zehr picking up her team leading fourth goal of the season. Choate and Greene were once again credited with assists.

“Kelsey is one of our hardest workers and is one of the most selfless players,” Archambeau said. “I’m glad she’s getting recognition for all of her hard work.”

The senior goals continued for Brockport. At the halfway point of the second period Tiffany Andres picked up her first goal of the year. Kalena Eaton was credited with her second assist of the season.

With just over a minute left in the half, Greene record the Golden Eagles' third goal of the quarter and fourth goal of the game. The third goal of the season for the freshman took Brockport into the half with a commanding 4-0 lead.

Morrisville was once again not able to get a shot off as they were outshot 11-0 in the second period. That brought the total shot difference at the half to 28-0 in favor of Brockport.

Gianna Salerno got the Golden Eagles their season high fifth goal of the game with just under four minutes left in the third period. This was the second goal of the year for the senior.

Andres would strike again late in the third period. Her second goal of the game and of the season extended the Brockport lead to 6-0.

“It made me super excited for the rest of the season… to get the two goal jitters out of the way,” Andres said. “We were really connected. I think the biggest thing was keeping our composure. I think we played together as a team, and we played as one today.”

Morrisville was finally able to get a shot off in the third period. That would be all they would get however as they were still outshot 17-1 and outscored 2-0 in the period.

Salerno once again extend the Brockport lead late in the fourth period. Her second goal of the game and third goal of the season pushed the lead to 7-0. Sophia Jones was credited with her second assist of the year.

Thowe scored her second goal of the day with just over a minute remaining in the game. The seventh goal on the day by seniors and the eighth overall.

“We’ve been struggling to finish, so finishing a lot on senior day, there’s no better feeling than that,” Thowe said. “We’re feeling good going into conference play next week.”

By the time the final horn sounded, Brockport had put up eight goals and 55 shots compared to Morrisville’s zero goals and one shot.

“Our goal today was to play our game for a full 60 minutes,” Archambeau said. “We really did that today.”

With the win, the Golden Eagles improved to 3-2 on the season. The Mustangs picked up their fourth loss of the year to move to 2-4.

The Golden Eagles will be in action again on Wednesday. They will take on the Ithaca Bombers at 7:00 p.m.
