Dylan Cozens Scores First NHL Goal, Sabres Lose in Shootout to Washington, 4-3

It was a night to remember for nineteen-year-old Dylan Cozens as the 7th pick in the 2019 NHL Draft netted the first goal of his career Friday night. But, Cozens celebration was cut short as the Sabres came out on the losing end in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Washington Capitals from Capital One Arena.

Cozens was not the only one to get their first goal of the season for the Sabres as Eric Staal and Riley Sheahan scored for the Sabres.

It was a crushing loss for the Sabres as Washington had four of their top players out due to COVID-19, including Alex Ovechkin and starting goaltender Ilya Samsonov.

Buffalo drops to 1-3 on the season and are back in action on Sunday against the Capitals at 3:00 pm.
