Brockport Hockey Sweeps SUNYAC Weekend to keep playoff hopes alive.

BROCKPORT, N.Y. --- The SUNY Brockport Men's Ice Hockey team had a pair of SUNYAC matches this weekend. On Friday night they hosted the Fredonia Blue Devils and on Saturday night they traveled to Buffalo to take on the Buffalo State Bengals.


On Friday night, The Golden Eagles were looking to win their second game against the Blue Devils and snap their four-game losing streak. Things did not start well for the Golden Eagles.


At the 8:44 mark in the first period, Fredonia forward Ryan Bailey got the Blue Devils on the board with a goal. Three minutes later, forward Bryce Whitman would score on a power play to make it a 2-0 Blue Devils lead. The Golden Eagles would start the second period down 2-0.


Just 47 seconds into the second period, center Scott Ramaekers cut the deficit in half after netting a goal. At the 15:58 mark in the second period, forward Andrew Harley scored a shorthanded goal to tie things up 2-2.

The scoring didn't stop there for either team. Blue Devils forward Jake Blackwell got one in net to give at the 7:15 mark in the second period to give Fredonia the 3-2 lead.

Brockport forward Connor Galloway would tie things up once again 1:36 later after scoring a goal. After the second period, the game was tied 3-3.


The back and forth continued as forward Gregg Lee got one past Aidan Curry on a power play at the 17:18 mark in the third period.


At the 15:33 mark in the third period forward Adam Beauvais added a goal to tie things up for the Golden Eagles. The period would end with the game tied 4-4, sending it to overtime. Connor Galloway won it for the Golden Eagles in overtime after netting his second goal of the game at the 3:15 mark. The final score was 5-4.

On Saturday night, the Golden Eagles traveled to Buffalo State to take on the Bengals. The Bengals got off to a hot start.


Just 46 seconds into the game, forward Nick Stuckless gave the Bengals a 1-0 after scoring a goal on the power play. Forward Nikita Kozyrev would add a goal for the Bengals at the 18:22 mark in the first period. Just like that, the Golden Eagles found themselves down 2-0 in the first two minutes of play. But the Golden Eagles didn't panic.


At the 17:24 mark in the first period, Brockport forward Connor Galloway netted a goal on a power play to make it 2-1. Four minutes later, Andrew Harley tied things up for the Golden Eagles after scoring a goal. Then, with 4:31 left to play in the first period, forward Zach Norby recorded his first goal of the season to put the Golden Eagles on top 3-2.

Zach Norby scored his second goal of the game at the 7:42 mark in the second period to extend the Golden Eagles lead to 4-2. This would be the only goal of the second period and it ended with Brockport up 4-2. The Bengals did not go down quietly.


Bengals forward Michael McCosh cut the deficit to one after getting one in net just 1:06 into the third period. This is the last goal the Bengals would score in the game.


Scott Ramaekers would seal the game for the Golden Eagles after scoring a goal with 6:41 left to play in the third period. The Golden Eagles would win 5-3.


The Golden Eagles improve to 10-14 on the season and 5-10 in the conference. The Golden Eagles will wrap up the regular season when they travel to Geneseo to take on the Knights on Saturday February 18th, at 7pm.
