BROCKPORT, N.Y. --- The Brockport Golden Eagles women's lacrosse team fell to St John Fisher (SJF) 18-3 after an explosive start from the Cardinal offense. St John Fisher rattled off 10 goals in the first quarter including three goals in two minutes. SJF junior midfielder Kaley Griffin scored seven to lead to the way.

"It just came down to that first half," Brockport senior midfielder Sarah Kilburn said. "We didn't play how we know we can play but we showed up in the second half and i think next time we see them, if we give that effort that we gave in the second half we can give them a run for it."

Kilburn was the only goal scorer on the day for Brockport. Her hat trick came in the second half, all on step down shots from the eight meter line in the free position. Kilburn had four free position shots awarded to her, cashing in on three. Entering the game she was just 2-for-2 on the year from the free position.

"Honestly, just getting the reps in, shooting on our goalies so going out there and getting the shots off," Kilburn said.

Offense came from everywhere for SJF as they broke down Brockport's defense from their first possesion. SJF senior midfilder and Hilton graduate Sydney Carpenter produced a seven point performance with three goals. Carpenter leads the Cardinals with 72 points on the season (36 + 36).

SJF dominated time of possesion in the first half and gave the Brockport offense no breathing room on the defensive end. The Brockport offense turned the ball over eight times in the first half en-route to a 15 turnover day for the Golden Eagles. SJF tallied 10 caused turnovers on the game.

"We lagged a lot offensively," Brockport senior midfielder Alayna Foos said. "We kind of stood, we didn't really help each other out. We got to get back to playing like a team like we did against Utica."

SJF's relentless offense pelted the Brockport defense with 32 shots (20 on goal) compared to just nine (two on goal) for Brockport. All nine of the Brockport's shots came after the first quarter. SJF had nine different goal scorers contribute in the victory. SJF senior attacker Mary Fiorentino also chipped in four assists on a goalless day, SJF had 11 players register points in the game.

"We needed to work the ball a little bit more and we knew they were going to have high pressure... we kind of just lacked a flow," Brockport senior midfielder Paige Thowe said.
