CORTLAND, NY--- The Brockport Golden Eagles came into the game looking for vengeance after two close losses to SUNYAC opponents. A fast start was not enough as the Red Dragons used a big third period to come away with a 6-2 victory.
Brockport got off to a fast start after senior forward Connor Galloway scored his first goal of the season at the 1:27 mark in the first Period, giving Brockport the 1-0 lead.
"I got the monkey off my back," Galloway said. "I've had a lot of opportunities to score and it was nice to finally sink one."
Cortland responded right away at 2:39 in the first period after sophomore defensemen Evan Beaudry netted a goal, his second of the season, to tie the game at one apiece. At the end of the first period, senior forward Nate Burke found the back of the net for his fifth goal on the season to give the Red Dragons a 2-1 lead.
At the 8:32 mark in the second period, senior forward Jona Hildreth added a goal go extend the Red Dragons lead to 3-1.
Just before the end of the second period, Josh Grund scored his first goal of the season right through the legs of Cortland goalie Hunter Hein to cut the deficit to 3-2. This was the last goal Brockport would score in the game.

It was all Cortland in the third period as they went on to score three unanswered goals. Junior forward Dominic Settimo netted his fourth goal of the season at 8:43 in the third period to give Cortland a 4-2 lead. Anthony Bernardo made it 5-2 with his fourth goal on the season at 9:59 in the third period.
Sophomore forward Zach Smith sealed the game for the Red Dragons with his first goal of the season at the 13:52 mark in the third period, making it 6-2.
"We have a lot of work to do," Brockport head coach Brian Dickinson said. "We got a day off tomorrow and then we got to get back to work and then we got to get to Hobart, who is no easy challenge. Hopefully we can put this in the rearview real quick and learn from it and be ready to go."
With the loss, Brockport drops to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in the conference. The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Tuesday against Hobart College. Puck drop is set for 7pm.
