With Christmas quickly approaching, the music industry is filled with Christmas classics and recent renditions of timeless songs. KT Tunstall being a classic artist, is here for a comeback this holiday season.
Her Christmas album, “Have Yourself a Very KT Christmas” has returned to top the charts with her perfectly quirky christmas songs that add just the right amount of twist to traditional favorites.
She opens her album with the song "2000 Miles". This upbeat and easy going song eases you into that holiday spirit and allows you to be warmed up and festive for her next song, “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)”. This song has that perfectly festive mix of merry lyrics and easy to dance to rhythms that will leave you rocking around the Christmas tree. Track three is the always fun, “Mele Kalikimaka (Christmas in Hawaii)”. This soft and quirky song is the perfect song to play in the background while enjoying all the festivities of the holiday. This joyful favorite has just the right amount of bounce and fun to add some ease to any tinsel based tensions. Her next song is “Sleigh Ride” this one had the most KT Tunstall style. It had a heavier alt feel with her edgier singing and quick tempo. With all of the bells and whistles of the original, this easily recognizable song is excellently paired with her classic vocals. Her fifth song, “Fairytale in New York”, slowed the album down to a somber and reminiscent tone. This slow and soulful song brought back all the feels of missed loved ones and happy memories. Lastly, KT ends her album with “Lonely this Christmas”. After an easy transition from “Fairytale in New York”, KT finishes on a sad note for anyone alone on this upcoming holiday. The relaxed guitar leading the melody slows everything down and gives full attention to KT’s gentle vocals in this gorgeous and underrated song. “Lonely this Christmas” was definitely a personal favorite and would be excellent for anyone that needs a song to wind down to while still wanting to be in their Christmas feels.
Overall, the songs were not heavily remixed. KT stuck with the songs’ original styles and only added her wonderful vocals. She kept the tempos, melodies, and lyrics the same. However, if you like her voice, then these songs are perfect for any Christmas playlist.
