While it may still be November, a lot of people are already getting into the holiday spirit.
Considering the chaotic year that 2020 has been, a lot of folks are putting out the Christmas decorations and turning up the Christmas music earlier than ever before.
It seems that every holiday season, we hear the same three versions of "Jingle Bells" or "Frosty the Snowman", but 2020 has plenty of new holiday music to offer, whether it be a new spin on classic carols, or original songs.
"I Need You Christmas" by the Jonas Brothers
The Jo Bros released this lovely piano ballad at the end of last month. The song describes how Christmas is needed badly, considering that families have nowhere to go, and "times have been lonely". It's something that many around the world can relate to this year.
2. "Last Christmas" by Meghan Trainor
It may be overheard, but Trainor manages to put a new pop twist on the classic Christmas tune originally by Wham!.
If you're not a fan of "Last Christmas", Meghan Trainor has released a whole album titled A Very Trainor Christmas, with other Christmas favorites including "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas" and "White Christmas", and original songs like "Christmas Party" and "Holidays" featuring Earth, Wind & Fire.
3. "Under The Mistletoe" by Kelly Clarkson ft. Brett Eldredge
Kelly Clarkson gifted us with her first Christmas album, Wrapped In Red, in 2013, particularly with the song "Underneath the Tree". This time around, she has given us the gift of an upbeat duet between her and country star Brett Eldredge. This could become another Christmas classic from Clarkson.
4. "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" by John Legend
This year, John Legend came with our presents early, using his swoony vocals to cover this classic John Lennon song.
John Legend also includes his family in this song. You can hear his wife Chrissy Teigen, wishing their two children, Luna and Miles, a Merry Christmas, with them replying "Happy Christmas, Daddy and Mommy!" Talk about adorable!
Being a huge John Lennon fan, I would usually be upset that an artist tried to cover this song, but I cannot be mad about this rendition that Legend has released.
December 8th of this year will also just so happen to mark 40 years since the untimely death of Lennon. What a tribute to him.
5. "Take Me Home for Christmas" by Dan + Shay
Dan + Shay have had a successful year, with singles including "10,000 Hours" featuring Justin Bieber, and "I Should Probably Go To Sleep". Now, the country pop duo have released "Take Me Home for Christmas", where they express the wish for their special someone to take them to their hometown for the holidays, so they can see the place their sweetheart grew up.
If you're a fan of country music, and you're looking for some holiday cheer, this song is definitely for you.
Other artists releasing new Christmas music this year include Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood, Goo Goo Dolls, Pentatonix, and Maddie & Tae.
