Hey Violet: From the Outside

★★★★★

Love can be a complicated thing and breakups can be really hard. I feel like Hey Violet is taking those feelings breakups and exes, and making them into something fun and empowering. Usually right after a breakup everything seems wrong and torn apart, however once someone is moving on there is this sense of energy and everything becomes fun again. Hey Violet created an album From the Outside perfect for people going through this stage of a breakup. There are a few songs that are slower than the others, but there are some that are fun loving as well. Some of the fun loving songs include ‘Break My Heart’, ‘Guys My Age’, and ‘Hoodie’. These songs have themes of the initial breaking up, being so over someone so immature, and still having something from someone that was a big part of their life. One of the songs in the album titled ‘All We Ever Wanted’ seems like the song that would play during a club scene in a movie or any club in real life honestly. It seems like the song that someone would listen to while moving on at the club with their besties. ‘Like Lovers Do’ has a little bit of a cool yet creepy vibe. It makes me think of Disney villains or “A” from Pretty Little Liars. After listening to this album, I definitely see it as being an anthem for going through a breakup. The songs have a pop vibe that keeps it alive, and not making it as sad as a breakup could be. I feel like this album keeps the glass half full instead of half empty. This is also the album that is great for driving around with your friends or while shopping with your best friends at the mall. I am excited to hear more of Hey Violet.
