Zayn, previously in the boyband One Direction, has become the Justin Timberlake of the group. After departing from the group he went to create this album that is probably one of my new favorites.
The album starts out with a simple intro that leads into the first song, “iT’s YoU”. This song is slow and full of Zayn showing what he is capable of, especially with his vocal range. This song starts the album off on a good foot, and continues with the next song, “BeFoUr”. This is one of my favorites off the album. It’s catchy, and the beat is what got me. The chorus is something I find myself singing all the time and can never get this song out of my head. “sHe”, the next song off the album, keeps the same tone of “BeFoUr”. By this point it is evident that the vibe given from this album is definitely one of The Weeknd. The following song “dRuNk” starts off with an amazing beat that continues through the whole song. Zayn’s range in this song is fantastic too. The intermission is next and in it Zayn sings Hindu and is a very tranquil song. “rEaR vIeW” is good but doesn’t truly get me hooked until its chorus. Once the chorus was playing I was totally about this song. “wRoNg” also gives the vibe of The Weeknd but still has the personality and flair of Zayn. This song is slow and the addition of Kehlani is what adds a bow to this wonderful present of a song. “fOoL fOr YoU” is another favorite on this album. It is so full of love and the lyrics of the song is what I love so much. Zayn’s voice is so powerful in the song and the beat of the song is also wonderful and complimentary to him. “BoRdErZ” is another favorite, if not my absolute song. I was immediately drawn by the beat of the song but then the chorus kept me. It is captivating, chill, and go with the flow. His voice in “tRuTh” is soft and the vibe is calming and relaxing. The beat of this song also compliments Zayn’s vibe in it as well. “lUcOzAdE” has one heck of a beat and is honestly what kept me during this song. It is head nodding and a song you play while driving in the middle night. “TiO” is another favorite, especially from the beginning, which gives me a sort of steam punk vibe. His vocal range in this song also gets me, as well as the lyrics. What girl doesn’t love taking off her makeup? “BLUE” is slow, soft, and like the title, blue aka sad. He sings about love and anyone can relate to this song if you have ever liked someone. “BLUE” is an easy listen and perfect for if you want a soft vibe. “BRIGHT” starts off pretty simple, but the beat picks and boy does it pick up. If you don’t like this song immediately, give it 30 seconds and you might change your mind. “LIKE I WOULD” really got me at the bridge but then the chorus totally pulled me under. This song has an amazing beat and if you want a song to dance and sing to, then this is it. The album ends with “SHE DON’T LOVE ME” which begins quiet and simple but then comes in and so does the beat. It ends the album wonderfully and I am looking forward to more from Zayn!
