The Brockport Golden Eagles won their fifth game in a row after shutting out the Hartwick Hawks 38-0. The win improves Brockport to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in Empire 8 play.
A big game all around for both sides of the ball. On the offense, running back Jala Coad had his best performance to date, recording three touchdowns, the first time that has happened by a running back since Zack Samborski last year against Buffalo State. As for the defense, it was 2018 all over again, as the Golden Eagles held Hartwick to -67 rushing yards on the ground, a program record. We talked with Jala on his thoughts to the performance.
Brockport is now on an 18-game Empire 8 streak and have not lost in league play since October 29th, 2016 to Alfred 28-30. They also haven't lost since a September 2016 defeat to St. John Fisher 38-42.
Next week is a midseason bye week for the Golden Eagles, but they return to action at home on October 26th to face the Utica Pioneers. Kickoff is at noon with pre-game at 11:30 on 89.1 The Point.
